So many great buzzwords… “Hack”, “Master”, “Marketing Principles”. I’ve gotta hook you somehow…
Let’s face it, we all want to be more successful but feel like it’s exhausting throwing marketing messages out into the ethos and getting zero results. The reason I say the word, “hack” is because these three changes take whatever efforts you are currently using and either multiplies the results or significantly shortens the amount of input needed to see results. I would call that a hack any day of the week. So get to reading and start implementing these “principles” so that you can grow your business. -Jordan.
To succeed in marketing and boost your revenue, focus on understanding three key things:
1. Clients’ Fears and Struggles
It might seem a little weird to say out loud… “what does my customer struggle with?” but it’s not, it’s genius. Here is a great example to get your brain juices going. Let’s say you own a running shoe store. Do you believe people think about shoes all day? Or when their feet hurt after walking, running or working out they think about an upgrade? Or they see someone with better looking shoes with theirs and they want to look cooler. That’s what drives people to buy or consider buying, it’s not having the biggest selection, it’s reinforcing those pain points.
So Saying Things Like:
1. Feet hurting after a long walk… you may have the wrong shoes, let us guide you to choosing the right pair.
2. Split times slower than they used to be? Your running shoe might be slowing you down more than you think, let’s see if we can help.
3. Favorite workout shoes taken a beating? We’ve got fresh kicks right off the truck with your name on them.
Do you see how we agitate a problem and it forces you to keep reading and see if there is a solution at the end of a tunnel? All great copywriting, media and websites do this.
First, get to know what worries your clients. What keeps them up at night? What problems do they need help with? For me, it’s aspiring entrepreneurs and marketers in bigger companies who feel overwhelmed by the fast-paced media world and struggle with DIY marketing.

2. Relatable Branding
In this photo is Justin Brashear. He invested in a photo shoot, jerseys and more merchandise so that his kids could be in his brand. He is a plaintiff's attorney, and instead of being in a suit, he chose to be more relatable and approachable. The result was consistent growth in his business because of his brand.
Next, make sure your brand connects with your audience. Your brand should feel like a friend they can trust. For my audience, I am that uplifting coach and creative person they look up to. My family, faith, and passion for what I do shape my brand and make it relatable.
3. Media Consumption Habits
It’s important to learn that creating content that gets your customers attention AND placing it on the platform that they naturally consume content is a HACK. It saves time and money!
Finally, understand how and where your clients spend their time online. My audience loves vertical videos, podcasts, and long-form content. They also trust reputable websites with strong social proof. Make sure your online presence is solid and trustworthy.
How I Put These Principles into Action
I use these principles to create content that speaks directly to my audience. Here’s how:
• Create Targeted Content: I make videos, podcasts, and posts that address the fears and struggles of my audience.
• Embody My Brand: I show my audience who I am—an uplifting coach with a passion for helping others. My content reflects my values of family and faith.
• Address Their Pain Points: I talk about the challenges my audience faces and offer real solutions through my products.
